-
- Dallas, Texas--June 6, 1991--Diamante Software today announced availability of
- Control Classic™, a high-end entry in the growing “contact management” market.
- Now shipping as a stand-alone package, Control Classic is one module of Control
- II, a complete lead tracking, order entry, and invoicing system for the
- Macintosh® that has been shipping for three years.
-
- Control Classic™, which Diamante calls a “lead processor,” manages leads,
- customers, contacts, and activities. But it goes far beyond just managing lists
- - Control Classic™ can automate the process of moving a “contact” toward any
- goal. Thus the uses for Control Classic™ go far beyond sales, the traditional
- use for contact managers.
-
- “We saw the growing interest in this type of application and realized we
- already had it in Control II™,” said Chris Dikmen, Manager of Product
- Development and creator of Control II™. “Our customers said we had the best
- lead processing software available, but that not everyone needed order entry
- and invoicing, at least not initially. We were getting many calls for just lead
- processing, too, so we decided to release that module as a separate product.”
- The result is the first lead processing package on the market that has a
- seamless upgrade path to a full-featured order entry and invoicing system.
- Since it is natural that sales flow from leads being converted to customers,
- Mr. Dikmen says this gives Control Classic™ users a unique product that can
- grow as their needs grow, and it’s backed by technologies in use for three
- years.
-
- “Control Classic™ is for anyone who wants to control the process of converting
- leads to customers,” said Frank Kirmss, Diamante’s Director of U.S. Sales.
- “It’s designed to automate the follow-up process that eludes most businesses
- and is essential in today’s competitive marketplace.”
-
- A User Answers “Why Control Classic™”
-
- “We looked at six products for managing our whole marketing program and chose
- Control Classic™,” said Jonathon Schlesinger, President of Connexus, Inc., a
- Dallas firm that provides videoconferencing and telephone shared tenant
- services nationally. “We developed a matrix of required features, and Control
- Classic™ was the only one that satisfied all our needs and had the level of
- multi-user performance we required. I was also impressed that a call to
- Technical Support on a Sunday afternoon was returned that day,” he added. Mr.
- Schlesinger, a Macintosh business user since the Plus’s introduction in 1986,
- is a firm believer in its user interface, and notes that he especially likes
- Control Classic’s adherence to Macintosh® user interface standards.

- Features, User Interface, and Performance Distinguish Control Classic™
-
- Features
-
- • “Processes and Tasks” manage your contact plan by adding activities to your
- In Box (phone calls, meetings, etc.) and Out Box (letters, faxes, memos, etc.)
- automatically.
-
- • Tracks marketing efforts - shows response rate for direct mail, advertising,
- trade shows, etc. for each “Status” (lead, prospect, customer) and cost per
- lead.
-
- • Full-featured, integrated mail merge word processor for mass mailings or easy
- “on the fly” letters. Prints envelopes and labels for each letter.
-
- • Ad hoc search on multiple fields using AND/OR/NOT logic. Save search criteria
- for easy re-use. Standard menu-selected keyword, name, and Process and Task
- searches.
-
- • Import/export data for use with other programs or data sources. Criteria can
- be saved as easy-to-use “styles.” Previews incoming files, automatic keyword
- assignment on import, export merge field headers for use with other word
- processors.
-
- Unique Control Classic™ “Power User” Features
-
- • Upgrade path to Control II™ - seamless (and painless) way to add
- full-featured order entry and invoicing functions - a must, since orders
- naturally come from converting leads to customers.
-
- • Custom Report and Label Editors - support summary calculations, break fields,
- sorting, applied formulas, and even graphs. Save report and label designs for
- easy re-use.
-
- • Global record modification - update fields in all or selected records in one
- operation using multi-line formulas and special IF-THEN constructs. Examples:
- convert uppercase-only data from a mainframe to lower case and/or first letter
- caps, compute a numeric field based on the contents of other fields, use logic
- to assign alphanumeric data to a field based on other fields. Can be locked out
- by an administrator to avoid inadvertent field modification.
-
- • Set management tools - save “snapshots” of record selections for instant
- recall and use. Apply set operators (difference, intersection, union) for
- further definition.
-
- • Password/Access system - the system administrator can assign users to groups
- to limit access at various levels.
-
- • Remote data exchange - each user can have a unique code to prevent data
- “collisions” (duplicate records). Simplifies importing data entered on your
- laptop or notebook computer in the field into your office database.
-
- User Interface Features
-
- • View data in lists - you have the visual advantage of seeing customers,
- contacts, and activities in lists using the standard Macintosh® user interface.
-
- • See detail by double-clicking a line - saves many searches, reduces typing,
- much faster overall. List views can be narrowed by simple or compound searches
- and menu choices. Both contiguous and non-contiguous selections can be made
- from list views by clicking.
